Makeup Refresh

Makeup Refresh

There are times when we have been out of the house all day and then also have plans for the evening that it isn’t always possible to reapply a full face of makeup before you have to leave the house again. I have put this post together for those days, for the people who need to rush out the door just as quickly as they have rushed in.
Depending on how much time you have or what it is that needs particular attention makeup wise, will determine which of the following steps you decide to take. You could do them all or just one or two, either way, hopefully you will find it useful.
BASE
If I know I am going to be wearing makeup all day, I will make extra effort in the morning to prolong the wear of it. This can be done by firstly applying a primer and then following with a long lasting foundation. I would set it with powder and maybe a touch of setting spray.
When it comes to touching up, there are only two products I would reach for, concealer being the main one. Add a few dots under your eyes and blend with your finger, no need to mess around with brushes. Apply some more on the areas you need it, whether you have a pesky spot or if your foundation has faded on your nose. Set with a powder. Done.
FACE
I find that blusher is the first thing to fade on my face during a particularly long day so I would usually quickly reapply before heading back out in the evening.
EYES
Prepare, think ahead. That morning, don’t apply anything to your eyelids. Cake on the mascara, use a good one, but don’t use shadow. It will only crease and you will have problems when it comes to getting ready to go out that night. Reapplying shadow after a full days wear just looks messy, it will only cause you stress! If you can’t go without eyeshadow during the day, put on a cream eyeshadow, that way, later you can apply a matte shadow to the crease to add some depth and achieve a smokier look.
What I tend to do when it comes to the evening and I am sprucing yourself up is grab an eyeshadow stick or a cream eyeshadow. I apply rather haphazardly all over my lids and blend out with my finger.
Have a few extra minutes? Add some eyeliner and smoke it out. Voila!
LIPS
Unless you paid particular attention to your lips that morning, whatever you were wearing on them, (if anything) has more than likely disappeared. Don’t bother wasting time and stressing over lip liner or a dark lipstick which can be tricky to apply even when you have the time! As a good alternative, reach for a tinted lip balm like the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains or a sheer but sparkly lipgloss.
HAIR
If I knew I was headed out in the evening, I would curl my hair that morning and leave it there. Then, before going out that night I would add a touch of try shampoo at the roots to give it some volume and freshen it up a tad. If I had a few extra minutes I might also add a couple more curls.
FINISHING TOUCHES
Although these may come as a last thought because you can’t necessarily see the benefits, trust me – they are worth it! Firstly, pay a little attention to those pits… you have had a long day and it is only going to get longer, use some anti-perspirant! Next take something like MAC Fix Plus or The Body Shop Vitamin E spray, and use it all over your face. This will refresh your skin, your makeup and help whatever you have on last longer. Then as an extra something something, add a little perfume.
There you have it! You are good to go!
