Our house doesn’t really feel like home to me but rather a house that we have made homely. We live in Southport, but most of our family and people we love are in Blackpool and oh how we long to be back there. Hopefully by this summer we will have moved back ‘home’ to Blackpool and our lives will transform once again, for the better.
Until then, our house in Southport is somewhere we have obviously made feel like home, adding personal touches here and there like you would with any house. I am very passionate about living in a space which is a reflection of both myself and my husband, Tommy. I get such joy out of choosing bits and bobs for the house, I love homeware shopping!
Whether you live in your own house, or only have your own bedroom, I think it is really lovely to make the space somewhere you enjoy being. If you think about it, it is a place where you spend a lot of your time so it should be filled with things that you love and get pleasure out of!
I have lots of ‘little bits’ around the house which are just there for show, but they are the kind of things that sometimes I just find myself sitting and looking at because they make me that happy, (sad I know!). Today I wanted to share with you one of my favourite places in our house, which is a little corner of our dining room. We just have a few things set out on top of a cupboard, (which rather boringly hides the electric meter!) but these things bring me so much joy.
Although to most, these will look like a rather random bunch of items, to me they all have their own story and meaning behind them which is something very important to me. I am a sentimentalist at heart!
