Choosing a style icon wasn’t as easy as you might have thought. I follow fashion trends and keep up to date with fashion in magazines, on the high street and on the catwalk but I never considered myself to have an actual style icon. When boohoo.com asked me to think about who my style icon is and to search for similar looks on their website I began to think about which celebrity’s style I would wear myself. Adele was the obvious choice. She is curvy, like me, and loves to wear black. Need I say more?!
boohoo.com are known for having a wide variety of style choices for those of us who want to look good on a lesser budget. The first item I chose was this ‘Collar Shift Dress’, which was £15. This is a plain, black dress with a turn over collar and 3/4 length sleeves. It comes to just above the knee, it is a very flattering piece. It is long enough that I don’t need to feel self conscious about pulling it down all day, and also covers up the parts of my arms I don’t like! It is also available in berry and blue, but I went for the black one as it makes it so easy to style and obviously is more slimming! I paired it with black heeled boots and depending on the makeup you choose to wear with it and how you accessorise, it could definitely be worn through the day or in the evening.
It was hard for me to only put one item in my basket, there is so much choice and a couple of other things caught my eye. I have put together an outfit which I believe is another key Adele look, as well as the black dress. On more casual days, Adele has been snapped in a pair of converse, a chunky scarf and an oversized jumper. Our style is more similar than I initially thought!
I firstly chose this grey, side split jumper, (£12). I ordered the size large and although it is a little oversized, it is so comfy and perfect for the days where you want to look put together, but don’t have to think about it! It is a v-neck and also is a little bit longer, it is so cosy. I then went to the scarf section which is where I probably spent most of my time deliberating! I went for this black and white checked scarf, (£14) as I thought, with it being monochrome, it will go with most of my outfits. The jumper can be worn normally, or as it has quite a deep cute v-neck it can be worn just slightly off the shoulder too, which I think paired with converse and skinny jeans is quite a sexy look, (if a jumper and high tops can be sexy!).
