Spring is here, Summer is fast approaching and I am the shade of a milk bottle. When I go on holiday I do catch a bit of sun and love having a bit of colour, it makes me feel so much more confident. Unfortunately, I don’t happen to live in a country where it is possible to catch a tan which resembles having been in Greece for a week. Sometimes, you just gotta fake it. I am the worst self tanner, I’m just too lazy but when I get into the habit, I absolutely love it.
When Madama LA LA contacted me to ask if I wanted to review their self tanner, apparently loved by the likes of Blake Lively and Miranda Kerr, I obviously jumped at the chance. The tan claims to last up to 10 days and give a subtle but healthy warmth to the skin. The bottle of product comes packaged in a box of matching branding, simple yet effective. The tan is a mousse like texture (my favourite kind) and also includes anti-aging skincare benefits which work to blur imperfections and wrinkles. Sounds pretty good so far, right? Oh and it includes Coco Water Extract which hydrates, tones and works to reduce the appearance of cellulite. It’s a wonder I didn’t have a bath in this stuff.
The instructions given on the bottle are pretty much the same as any self tan although there is no guidance as to how many pumps to use per area, so I gave it my best guess. I used 2-3 pumps on my arms and legs, a couple on my chest area and then left everywhere else white because let’s be honest, nobody gonna be seeing my tummy any time soon! The tan blends in beautifully, I used a mitt to buff into the skin and it left no streaks or patches. It doesn’t have that overwhelming fake tan smell either, which makes it even more appealing. The photos below were taken the next day, after I had showered the excess tan away and I was left very happy with the results.
I moisturised almost every day, if not every other and the tan stayed put for a good week or so, before fading away rather naturally. It is the easiest, most stress free self tan I have used to date. What I love the most is how it looks so natural on the skin, it doesn’t have that scary orange undertone a lot of fake tan mousses have.
