When I first saw the Lottie London stand in Superdrug my eyes lit up! At the time the stand was being put up, ready to be filled with a new line of makeup brushes I hadn’t ever heard of. A new drugstore brand to try – I couldn’t wait! This was of course a few months ago now, and the brand is quite well established in Superdrug stores up and down the country.
When they arrived in store, I decided to go for the ‘Best of the Brushes’ Collection (£19.99) and also the ‘Tan Time’ brush (£7.99). The packaging is enough to draw anyone in, simplistic yet chic and quite cute too! On first opening the brushes they felt sturdy to hold yet the bristles were lovely and soft, I couldn’t wait to put them to the test. I love my makeup brushes and I am loyal to quite a few, especially Real Techniques – a drugstore brand that just I have tried, tested and adore. How would Lottie London fair against some of my most loved brushes?
The powder brush & the bronzer brush are definitely my favourites. I only really use flat foundation brushes to apply face masks & the eyeshadow brushes don’t do it for me at all. The eyeliner brush is a nice size and I do like it to apply eyeshadow as a liner to the lash line. The blue powder brush is lovely for powdering when you aren’t being to specific with the areas you want to powder. The bronzer brush took a bit getting used to but is a lovely shape for adding colour to the parts of the face where the sun would naturally hit.
However, I have only washed the brushes twice & already the handle has come off of the bronzer brush! I can’t use it now unless I glue the two bits back together. I wasn’t surprised if I am honest, they are not the best quality of brushes I have ever used. £20 for five brushes certainly isn’t a bad price, but I would much rather have Real Techniques or Zoeva brushes. The Lottie London brushes are very pretty and they aren’t the worst brushes I have ever used. For the price however, I don’t think they are worth it, especially with breaking so easily.
