Drops of Youth by The Body Shop

 

You should all be aware by now that one of my favourite brands for skincare is The Body Shop. Their products almost always impress me and not only are they affordable, they make a difference to my skin. A few weeks ago, The Body Shop were kind enough to send me some products which they have recently introduced into their already very successful, ‘Drops of Youth’ range.

 

Anti-ageing products aren’t something I ever saw myself using, not at least until I was a lot older anyway. A while ago I learned that using products which tackle the signs of ageing, earlier rather than later, was a good thing to start doing and that being in my early 20’s I was at the best age to start. When a product is designed to improve the fine lines and texture of the skin, which helps us to look younger for longer, it doesn’t have anything in it which younger people cannot use. They can only be a good thing! Most include ingredients which puff up the skin, making it look fuller and healthier – isn’t that something we are all after?

 

 

The first product I tried was the Drops of Youth Essence Lotion and this is something completely different to anything I have used before. I used it after cleansing, but before serum, although it isn’t a toner. It is described as a gel-to-water texture and is meant to prepare the skin for the next stages of your skincare routine after cleansing. This range isn’t heavily scented, which is something I quite like when it comes to skincare. This also means they are usually less likely to cause irritation. The lotion is quite runny, and you can apply straight to the face or by using a cotton wool pad. I have used it with my hands each time and my skin immediately felt more hydrated. What I like most about the Essence Lotion is how easily my serum and moisturiser applied after I had used it. My current serum is quite runny and can leave my skin feeling almost greasy after I have used it. By using this lotion first, it sank straight into the skin instead of sitting on the surface.

 

As the next step in my skincare routine, I then apply moisturiser and I have been using the Drops of Youth Youth Cream for a few weeks. The texture of the moisturiser is described as velvet and it truly is. I prefer the more gel like, lighter formulas when it comes to moisturisers over thick creams and this one goes on like a dream. It isn’t too heavy, so could be used morning and night and a little goes a long way. After using both of the above just a couple of times, I couldn’t believe what a difference they made to my skin. In the mornings, my skin feels softer and looks healthier – it is one of the most instantaneous products I have used and will continue using. As always, the packaging is simple but nice to look at and the products inside are of a high standard, which haven’t been tested on animals.

 

 

Another couple of lovely, affordable skincare products from The Body Shop which work beautifully. What makes the brand even better is that they almost always have offers on so you can pop products into your basket at an even lower price.
