‘Chesters by the River’ was one of Tommy’s grandparents favourite places to visit when they were in the Lake District. We make a trip to the lakes a couple of times a year but had never made a visit to Chesters. It is quite possibly the most ‘Instragammable’ place I have ever eaten! It is quaintly located, as its name would suggest, by an idyllic, trickling river. The location of Chesters is enough to make you love the place before you even walk through the door.
Tommy and I visited a couple of months ago and were spoilt for choice. As you walk in the front door, you have a boutique style shop on your right, (far too lovely to be called a gift shop) and a takeaway counter on the left. Here you can buy fresh loaves, cakes, or grab a coffee or sandwich to take away with you. The menu at the takeaway bar differs slightly to the main restaurant menu and is a perfect solution to a country walk with tasty provisions!
If you are after beautiful pieces for the home or unique gifts, Chesters is worth a visit. I was in my element! The pictures pretty much speak for themselves so make sure you have a gander! We shared a pizza and it was divine. The cakes are so big you could probably use them as doorstops – but what a waste that would be! The interiors and decor as a collective are stunning, they have every box ticked. Tommy & I will most definitely be back to Chesters by the River.
