This may well be the most non-influential, random blog post you will ever read, (unless I do more of the sort!). Sometimes, as I am sure we all do, I spend some time thinking about things that don’t really make sense to me. Things which we don’t necessarily come across in our everyday lives or aren’t at the top of our, ‘I must think about that’ list. (We all have one of those, don’t we?) I made a note about the latest few things to come into my thought process and thought I would share them with you. Please take this post with a pinch of salt, it is in no way meant as a serious, heart felt piece of writing! So here are five things which I am a little curious about…
1. Thumbs & iPhones
Do you think, that before the mobile phone was invented, they carried out experiments on people’s thumbs to see whether they could cope with the amount of physical exercise they would be doing? Our poor thumbs are in motion nearly all day, because let’s face it, we are on our phones all day! People that were born years and years ago, who didn’t use a mobile phone, never had to put their thumbs through what ours go through today. I wonder what state our thumbs will be in when we are old and grey?
2. Out of Stock
The most infuriating phrase. Out of Stock. Why? You are a business, I am a consumer, I want to give you my money. Why on earth have you let an item go out of stock? Fair enough if it is being discontinued, but for everything else, monitor sales! When I go for a carvery, I don’t want you to tell me you have no roast potatoes left. When I go online to order a dress, I don’t want you to tell me it is available in every other size but mine. When I place a food shop order to be delivered, don’t tell me you have no red grapes left and don’t you dare offer me an alternative! If I wanted green grapes instead of red I would have ordered them in the first place. Please, stock your shelves so I can fill my basket with the things I would like.
3. Train Security
Or lack of. When I go to the airport I do so with the dreaded thought that I am going to have to endure airport security. I know I’m not dangerous or that I am carrying something I shouldn’t be, but that doesn’t stop me from being nervous. I also know that it is completely vital that these security measures are in place and carried out. So how come we can walk on a train, the tube, a bus or a ferry, without undergoing the same rigorous security checks? Trains can hold a lot of people, as can passenger ferries and apparently anyone and their dog can be onboard without having their luggage checked. It just seems a bit daft, and quite scary if you think about it for too long.
4. “This gives me life”.
Well, not exactly. Your parents gave you life my dear. Why is it that recently, all over social media, I read things such as “I’m dying” and “This gives me life”? It sounds bloody ridiculous. To state that you are dying, when in actual fact you’ve just found a video a little bit funny, or that the tub of Nutella you’ve just finished off gave you life is a little over the top. You aren’t dying. That would be very serious and heartbreaking for those around you. Unfortunately, there are people out there every second of the day dealing with death and loved ones passing away. Let’s not make light of what, ‘I’m dying’ means. You sound like an idiot. For those of you that write, ‘I’M DEAD’ just because you have been laughing for the last five minutes, you clearly aren’t, unless you have accessed Twitter from the grave.
5. I’m a size 14 too!
There are millions of us on this planet and we are all unique. I was born with blonde hair and so was my sister, but it wasn’t the same shade of blonde. I have brown eyes and so might you, but they won’t be exactly the same shade. We are all so different and what gets me is how we all fit, or are at least expected to fit, into the same categories of clothing and shoe sizes. I am a size 7 shoe and so is my sister, but our feet are completely different! How is it I can fit into a size 14 top and so can my other sister but our bodies are a completely different shape? I just think its so strange that there are a bunch of us that fit into size 12, and 14 and so on, but if we all stood next to each other in a line we would have no idea.
So there we have it! Just a few things I have been pondering – I told you they were random. It is sometimes nice, when there are such awful things going on in the world, to have 5 minutes out and think about things which won’t stress you out or make you feel sad. Curiosity is a wonderful thing.

Many times I have also wondered why items are able to go out of stock when they clearly have more stock which is released later. Why not just keep all stock updated regularly?!
